The short version: we earn a commission when you buy through a link here, it costs you nothing extra, and it does not change what we recommend.

Amazon Associates statement

Mic & Mix is a participant in the Amazon Services LLC Associates Program, an affiliate advertising program designed to provide a means for sites to earn advertising fees by advertising and linking to Amazon.com. As an Amazon Associate, Mic & Mix earns from qualifying purchases.

How the links actually work

When you click a buy button on this site, you pass through a redirect on this domain ( /go/ ) which appends our Amazon Associates tracking tag and sends you to Amazon. If you then buy something, Amazon pays us a small percentage. The price you pay is identical to the price you would pay arriving at Amazon any other way.

Every one of those links is marked in the page's HTML with rel="sponsored nofollow", which is how search engines are told the link is commercial, and each carries a visible #ad marker with a link back to this page.

Which retailers we earn from

Currently, Amazon only. We are not in an affiliate program with any music retailer, manufacturer direct store or specialist audio dealer, so where those appear on this site — usually as the source for a specification, a manual or a published test result — those are plain, non-earning links and we do not benefit if you buy there.

If that changes, this page changes with it, and any new earning relationship will be named here before it appears in an article.

What commission does not affect

  • The order of a table. Rankings follow the published rubric, in which value is one of five equally weighted metrics.
  • Whether we recommend buying at all. Several pages here conclude that you should not buy the product you came looking for — the acoustic foam page and the subwoofer page are the clearest examples.
  • What we say about a product's downsides. Every product card on this site has a “what it costs you” column and none of them is empty.
  • Which retailer we point you at. We link Amazon because it is the program we are in; where a cheaper or better option exists elsewhere we say so in the text even though we earn nothing from it.

Prices

Prices and availability are set entirely by the retailer and change without notice. We never type a price into an article: prices on this site render only from a live data layer and expire automatically after 48 hours, so any figure you see was verified within the last two days or it is not shown at all.

At the time of writing, live pricing is not enabled here, so every button reads “Check price on Amazon”. That is the honest state of the site rather than a placeholder.

Questions about affiliate links

Does using your links cost me anything?
No. The price is identical to arriving at Amazon any other way. The commission comes out of the retailer's margin, not your payment.
Do you get paid more for recommending expensive products?
Commission is a percentage, so a more expensive product does pay more. That is exactly why the rubric is published and why value is one of five equally weighted metrics — so you can check the reasoning rather than trust the incentive.
Why do some links not earn you anything?
Because they are sources rather than shopping links — a manufacturer spec sheet, a manual, a published test result. We are not in an affiliate program with any of those sites and we do not benefit if you buy there.
How do I avoid giving you commission?
Search for the product name directly on Amazon rather than using our link. We would rather say that plainly than pretend there is no way around it.
Are affiliate links marked?
Yes, in two ways: a visible #ad marker with a link to this page under every buy button, and rel="sponsored nofollow" in the HTML so search engines are told the link is commercial.
